02Go deeper

Make every word count.

Every word is a decision. With limited moves and several targets to clear, you choose where to aim, when to take a chance, and when your hard-earned Silver is worth spending.

  • Moves

Every cast costs one. Run out with targets still standing and the round starts over.

  • Stars

One for clearing a level. Two for clearing it without a failed round. Three when every round also finishes within its par.

  • Silver

Your best words pay. Each cleared round earns Silver from the average quality of your casts.

  • Wildcard

Missing a letter? Spend Silver on a Wildcard and the letter is yours for this word.

  • Undo

Take back a miss — and get back the move it cost.

  • Appeal

Disagree with a verdict? Ask for a closer reading. The score could go up — or down.

What is Typecast?

Typecast is a word game about meaning. Build a word from your available letters and cast it at a target. A Judge scores how strongly and precisely your word fits. Play quick Classic rounds, explore Stories, or learn through Discoveries.

How is Typecast different from crosswords or word-search games?

A crossword wants the right answer. A word search wants the hidden word. Typecast wants to see what you come up with—there's no answer key! Each target can have many good answers, and a clever, unexpected connection can be your strongest move. How far can a word take you?

Is it free?

Yes, to start. Classic is free to play. Typecast Premium unlocks every Story and Discovery, and new ones arrive every couple of weeks.

Where can I play?

In your browser, or in the apps for iPhone and Android. No account needed: start as a guest, and sign in when you want your progress on every device.

How are words scored?

Each cast is read for meaning: how strongly your word relates to the target and how precisely it fits. Typecast uses AI to make that reading live, every time. Reach 100 on a target to clear it.

Can I use any word?

Any word that fits. There’s no dictionary gate, so slang, names, and technical terms can all score. Gibberish can be cast too; it just won’t score.
